Soda firing is a vapour-glazing processes where  soda ash (sodium carbonate), or baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is introduced into the kiln at a high temperature. The soda vaporizes, and sodium binds to the silica in the clay surface, forming a hard, glassy glaze with varying colours and textures.

This small batch series from this past winter / early spring.  This cup is glazed with a  classic celadon, highlighted by grey textures of soda vapour, and creating a beautiful crackle.
