Fire Horse MUG - dark clay (no. 5)

I made this set of mugs in honour of the Year of the Fire Horse, using a dark chocolate–coloured clay. I created a silkscreen from a horse image inspired by Chinese papercutting tradition, hand-printed it onto rice paper, and then transferred it onto wet clay. The interior is lined with a creamy matte glaze, while the exteriors is left raw, slightly rough and unglazed. The Fire Horse year speaks to intensity and movement—horses as herd animals driven by action and momentum, yet also alert and sensitive..
